# Kitsap Hub Zones

## Are there HubZones in Kitsap?

### HUBZones

There are [three Qualified HUBZones](https://maps.certify.sba.gov/hubzone/map#center=39.828200,-98.579500&zoom=5) in Kitsap County, plus the [Port Gamble Reservation](http://www.pgst.nsn.us/) and [Port Madison Reservation ](http://www.suquamish.nsn.us/)

The **Historically Underutilized Business Zones** (HUBZone) program was enacted into law as part of the [Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997.](http://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/files/small_business.pdf) The program falls under the auspices of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones – “HUBZones” – through the establishment of federal contracting preferences.

SBA’s HUBZone program is in line with the efforts of both the Administration and Congress to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing access to more federal contracting opportunities.

For full details, eligibility and benefits of the HUBZone program, please review the [SBA website](https://www.sba.gov/federal-contracting/contracting-assistance-programs/hubzone-program)

Don’t know if you are in a HUBZone? Check out the [HUBZone Map](https://maps.certify.sba.gov/hubzone/map#center=39.828200,-98.579500&zoom=5).
